This mango pineapple smoothie is a refreshing and tropical flavoured nourishing drink that's perfect to enjoy at any time of day. It's especially good for a summer breakfast and can be whipped up in under 5 minutes!
Smoothies go one of two ways for us, bland and not very balanced or just perfect with intense flavour. The latter is where this mango pineapple smoothie fits. We don't use coconut milk like many others, making this tropical glass of sunshine lovely and light. But the main reason for this is that coconut milk mutes all the gorgeous fruit flavour!
This mango pineapple smoothie has the perfect zing and is satisfyingly smooth, making it a pleasure to drink. We love smoothies this time of year, especially ones like this Strawberry Blueberry Smoothie. Full of vibrant fruit and satisfying for breakfast with the extra protein and fibre leaving you feeling full. Or if you are after a super smooth Banana Spinach Smoothie to get you started this is a great option too.

Why you'll love this recipe
Here are some reasons why you need this mango pineapple smoothie recipe in your life:
Morning boost - this tropical flavoured smoothie is a great way to start the day. We love the zing from the lime and the energy it gives us. Perfect for after a morning run.
Flavour - as always we do our best to ensure you get all the flavour you want. This tropical smoothie is definitely packed with flavour. No doubt.
Easy - smoothies are super quick and easy to make, especially if you're in a rush. Just throw it all in a blender and whizz. Done. We like easy!
Prep - If you want to save yourself time you can prepare the fruit into individual smoothie bags to grab and throw in the blender when you're ready to whiz it up.
Low fat - we use coconut water instead of milk to give that tropical flavour but without all the fat and calories. In fact, this makes for a much more flavoursome smoothie too!
Ingredients
You only need simple ingredients for this mango pineapple smoothie recipe, this is what you'll need:
Fruit - we use mango and pineapple that are previously frozen. You can do this yourself or just buy it frozen. We also use a room temperature banana for reasons we go into in the recipe tips.
Coconut water - coconut water is delicious and light, it also doesn't dampen the tropical flavours you want. Coconut milk on the other hand will definitely mute the flavours.
Greek yoghurt - Greek yoghurt adds creaminess, protein and tang to the tropical fruitiness of this mango pineapple smoothie.
Customisations
We know you love to mix things up with customisations and substitutions so here are some of our recommendations:
Fresh fruit - If you wish to have a more vibrant mango coloured smoothie, we suggest using fresh Alphonso or Ataulfo mangoes. You can chop them up and freeze them before making the smoothie. Follow the recipe by the weight in the recipe card though.
Dairy free - If you're vegan or lactose intolerant you can switch the Greek yoghurt for coconut yoghurt or any preferred non-dairy yoghurt.
Without yogurt - the smoothie works really well with yogurt but you can substitute for coconut milk if you prefer. This WILL change the flavour substantially though.
Mix ins - you can add in strawberries, peach or even spinach if you wish. You may wish to add more liquid in to ensure it's balanced and not too thick.
Alternative liquids - you could use orange juice, almond milk or just standard milk if you prefer. Although adjusting this will affect the overall flavour of the smoothie.
Toppings - we highly recommend adding a sprinkling of Tajรญn to this smoothie for an addictive spicy zing which goes perfectly with the mango and pineapple. Chopped fresh fruit, lime zest and shredded coconut are all great options too.

Expert tips
Make sure to read and follow these expert tips to ensure complete success with this mango smoothie recipe:
Ingredients - get the best ingredients you can afford, the ripest mangoes will clearly have the best flavour. We also recommend only using coconut water for this recipe, coconut milk dampens the zingy flavour.
Room temp banana - as we are using frozen mango and pineapple you don't need to use a frozen banana unless you want a super thick smoothie.
Frozen last - in the blender, add the ingredients liquid first and then end with the frozen fruit, this helps the blender get started.
Smoothie packs - make individual fruit bags and store in the freezer for a grab and blend option. This makes creating this smoothie so fast!
Liquid - if your smoothie turns out a bit thick, don't be afraid to add a little more liquid. The more frozen fruit you have it'll be quite thick to start with until it warms up and defrosts.
Recipe FAQs
Personally, no. We find ice just waters the flavours down. If you want to have a nice ice cold smoothie, use frozen fruit or freeze the flavoured liquid you are wanting to use into ice cubes.
Use more frozen fruit or less liquid. Alternatively, you can also blend chia seeds or ground flax seeds into the smoothie which will thicken the mixture. You can also add protein powder to thicken and make the smoothie extra protein filled.
Some suggestions to replace yogurt in your smoothies include: coconut milk, coconut yogurt, nut butters, coconut cream, milk, plant milks or even protein powder.
